Cargo by Air
Packaging Requirements for Air Transportation
Your cargo must be packed in any type of container. For example, a box made of cardboard wrapped with duct tape, a bag or a box, but it is very important: the container must be strong enough to exclude accidental damage during transportation (e.g. shocks, atmospheric precipitation, etc.).
The cargo may be placed on pallets. It depends on the items being transported. All shipments must be labeled with consignor as well as consignee information. Other special markings such as Fragile, Flammable" etc., are appropriate. Be sure to remember that under the Air Code, the shipper is responsible for packaging the shipment.
Size and Weight Restrictions of Air Shipment
In the international air shipments, there are no limitations to the size and weight.
Cargo exceeding 80 kg is classified as heavy. Respectively, such case is followed by an increase in the cost of transportation. The maximum one piece weight approved for air transportation is 200 kg (without any extra coordination). The total weight and volume of cargo items of one shipment is limited only by the dimensions of the luggage compartments of aircraft.
